One Tenure-Track Position in Bioinformatics/Computational Biology

The Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) is pleased to announce a new tenure-track opening (open rank).

Application procedure:

To apply for the position candidates should register and upload their evaluation package (in a single PDF file) containing:

  1. a C.V., including list of published papers, highlighting the 5 most representatives, patents, and research grants directly awarded to the candidate (as principal investigator or work-package coordinator)
  2. a 3-page research statement containing a summary of previous research contributions and a description of plans for future work.

Applicants should also provide names and contact information of three referees, familiar with the applicant’s research accomplishments, to prepare letters of recommendation. For junior faculty applicants, referees will usually include the applicant’s PhD and postdoctoral advisor(s).

The letters will be directly uploaded by the referees on the candidate’s application page and will made visible by the candidate.

Open positions

  • Bioinformatics/Computational Biology

    For this position we seek outstanding scientists applying innovative in silico and computational approaches to the analysis of molecular biological data, including genomics, transcriptional data, noncoding RNAs, epigenetics, proteomics and metabolomics data.

    Expertise in data management and organization, sequencing and –omic datasets, and development of analysis pipelines and support tools is essential. Skills and experience with a variety of next generation sequencing data types is required including gene expression analysis using RNA-Seq and exome/genome data analyses. Additionally, expertise in machine learning algorithms, Python, and C/C++ programming, as well as in GPU infrastructures will be a plus.

    Candidates will be drawn from fields including computational biology and physics, computer science, and statistics and mathematics, and will interact extensively with experimental life scientists at IIT. Strong communication skills and a willingness to collaborate is essential.

    A Ph.D. or equivalent graduate degree, as well as relevant postdoctoral experience are required at the time of application.
